Commitment to Ethical Practice

All Massage Alliance members commit to the Code of Ethical Touch, which promotes integrity, safety, professionalism, and respect within therapeutic bodywork. This includes:

Code of Conduct

Establishing respectful, safe, consent-based, and client-centered massage practices.

Scope of Practice

Understanding professional responsibilities, boundaries and when a client needs support beyond your role.

Equity in Massage

Promoting fair, inclusive, and non-discriminatory treatment in all professional interactions.

By upholding these values, practitioners contribute to a safer, more trustworthy, and more professional global massage community.

Student Feedback

Improving Massage Excellence Through Community Feedback

Your experience as a student or educator can help improve how massage is taught.

Constructive student feedback can help a school review its teaching. Agree how feedback will be collected, used and shared, and keep participation and privacy clear. Ask the association about any current review requirements for your programme.

How It Works

What can feedback explore?

Course structure, supervised practice, clarity of teaching, assessment and student support.

How should it be used?

To identify what works and where teaching can improve. Explain how personal information and any published comments will be handled.

What does it establish?

Student feedback is one source of information. It is not, on its own, proof of educational quality or eligibility for a credential.

The Right Training Elevates Your Practice

Learn at your pace. Demonstrate your technique in practice. Online learning can help you develop knowledge around your schedule; in-person teaching brings touch, observation and feedback into the process.

To obtain a qualification in a technique, you must complete the required practical training at a Massage Alliance-recognized centre and meet the programme’s completion and assessment requirements. Online study alone does not replace this practical stage. The aim is learning you can apply with confidence and responsibility.

Your Path to Professional Excellence

Give your teaching a clear direction.
Define what students should know and be able to demonstrate. Build in practice, reflection and feedback, and review how your teaching prepares them for responsible work with clients.

Safety & Support

Building a Culture of Safety and Respect

A truly professional massage environment is one where every person feels protected, understood, and treated with dignity. Safety is not an accessory to the profession; it is the foundation that allows therapeutic work to have real impact.

Practitioners who hold a Massage Alliance credential commit to working with clarity, honesty, and healthy boundaries. This commitment creates treatment spaces where clients can relax, trust, and fully benefit from the therapeutic process.

If something jeopardizes that trust — whether a boundary issue, an ethical concern, or behavior that doesn’t align with professional standards — it is important to act. No one should feel alone or unsupported when navigating these situations.

Raising Concerns and Protecting the Profession

For a concern about Massage Alliance membership or a credential, contact the association to ask about the appropriate process. Begin with a brief description; avoid sending sensitive information until the relevant handling arrangements are explained.

Concerns involving immediate danger or matters outside the association’s role should be directed to the appropriate local service or authority.
